Dr. Seuss Play: Script

Monday, March 2nd: Read Across America Day/Dr. Seuss’ Birthday.  We will put on a short play about Dr. Seuss in our classroom at 2:10 (be on time…seriously, it’s a VERY short play J) and walk to chapel together at 2:20.  Join us!

Here is the script if you'd like to help your child practice his or her lines:

Teacher: We have learned a lot about Dr. Seuss this month, haven’t we?

All: Yes.

T: Was he actually a doctor?

All: No.

T: What was his job?

All: Writing Books.

T: Are you ready to teach everyone what you have learned?

All: Yes.

Emma A: Theodor Geisel was his name.

Lily Becker: He and Dr. Seuss are one in the same.

Lucky Becker: His mom and dad called him Ted.

Lucy Besk: He loved to read books in bed.

Matthew: Once he grew and finished school,

Evan: He knew what he wanted to do.

Adrian: Making up stories is so fun!  Soon he started writing one.

Joshua: When he got older he took a trip.

Luke: He wrote his first story while traveling on a ship.

Oliver: “I Saw it on Mulberry Street” was that book.

T: He wrote 47 others, let’s take a look.

(Each student holds up their book and says the title)

Ben: One fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

Garret: Oh, the Things you Can Think

Henry: The Cat in the Hat

Elle: Hop on Pop

Chelsea: Green Eggs and Ham

Colby: I Can Read with My Eyes Shut

Kendyll: Mr. Brown Can Moo!  Can You?

Bella: There’s A Wocket in my Pocket

ALL: Wacky Wednesday!

Cruz: He sure had a lot to say.

Emma T:  Dr Seuss wrote using rhymes.

Lilly T: Some were so funny we laughed at times.

Tate: Like, Willy’s in the washtub washing Waldo Woo

Miles: and Uncle Ubbs umbrella and his underwear, too!

ALL: Today you are you, that is truer than true, there is no one alive who is youer than you.

Song:  “Everyone is Special”

You are special

You’re the only one

You’re the only one like you.

There isn’t another in the whole wide world

Who can do the things you do

Oh, you are special, special, everyone is special

Everyone in his or her own way

Oh, you are special, special, everyone is special

Everyone in his or her own way

You are important.  Oh, you really are

You’re the only one of you

The world is better just because you’re here

You should know that we all love you

Oh, you are special, special, everyone is special

Everyone in his or her own way

Oh, you are special, special, everyone is special

Everyone in his or her own way

ALL:  You have brains in your head, and feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself in any direction you choose.

THE END!

Here is a small taste of what we’ll do this week:

Language Arts: We will learn about and practice writing W words, sing songs, read many books, recite our weekly poem, go over our sight words,  and practice spelling them every day, write upper and lower case letters, write in our journals, sing about letter sounds, continue our literacy center rotations, and more!!

Math:   This week we will continue our unit on TIME and MONEY.  We will also count by 1s, 5s, and10s (to 100!), work with our number of the day (Spanish, tally marks, addition and subtraction problems, etc.), and graph the weather.  We will also continue working on simple addition facts.

Bible: This week we will learn about Daniel and the Lion’s den.  We will read the Bible, sing along with Wee Sing Bible Songs and Wee Sing More Bible Songs, go over our verses, and pray together every day.

Science, Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are Valentine’s Day and Community.  We will be celebrating Valentine’s day in class on Friday, February 13th. We will also be working on our Physical Science unit with plenty of hands-on activities (matter, movement, magnets, sink or float, fun!!).  We will continue to do our classroom jobs, attend art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom during choice time, and more!!!
