Busy Bees’ Kindergarten

February 9th-13^th

 

The class had a wonderful time celebrating the 100^th day of school. Thanks for all of your help and support in making it special.  This week we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day.  Look for more information about this from our fabulous room moms. 

 

 

February Important Dates:

Monday. February 9^th: Chapel at 2:25 in Monschke Hall

Monday. February 9^th: Home & School Club Meeting at 6:30

Friday, February 13^th: Jog-a-Thon (our time is 8:45) and Valentine’s Day Party

Monday, February 16^th: No School, Presidents’ Day

Thursday, February 26^th: Open House (time TBA)

 

Homework (due Friday):

1. Valentine’s Day mailbox and 23 cards due Friday, February 13^th
2. 2-3 choices from the monthly family activity calendar 
3. Read (at least) 10 minutes with your child every night.  Our Busy Bees are really enjoying reading their Read-at-Home books to us in class!  Thanks for helping them read these books with you at home.  Please practice reading our sight words every night, too.  Thanks for your continued support.

Practice reading our sight words every night:

 

Here is a small taste of what we’ll do this week:

 

Language Arts: We will learn about and practice writing W words, sing songs, read many books, recite our weekly poem, go over our sight words,  and practice spelling them every day, write upper and lower case letters, write in our journals, sing about letter sounds, continue our literacy center rotations, and more!!

 

Math:   This week we will continue our unit on TIME and MONEY.  We will also count by 1s, 5s, and10s (to 100!), work with our number of the day (Spanish, tally marks, addition and subtraction problems, etc.), and graph the weather.  We will also continue working on simple addition facts. 

 

Bible: This week we will learn about Daniel and the Lion’s den.  We will read the Bible, sing along with Wee Sing Bible Songs and Wee Sing More Bible Songs, go over our verses, and pray together every day.  

 

Science, Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are Valentine’s Day and Community.  We will be celebrating Valentine’s day in class on Friday, February 13^th. We will also be working on our Physical Science unit with plenty of hands-on activities (matter, movement, magnets, sink or float, fun!!).  We will continue to do our classroom jobs, attend art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom during choice time, and more!!!
