Please
practice reading our sight words every night:
This Week’s Homework:
The
following assignments should be completed by Friday:
- Phonics page for the letter of the week- Qq
- Handwriting page for the letter of the week- Qq
- 2-3 choices from our monthly family activity calendar.
- Ten minutes (or more!) of reading every night with a parent, guardian, or older sibling, etc. I’m sure your child would love to read the book in his or her small manila folder to you! Sight words are fun to read together, too. Reading together every night is VERY important. Let’s work together to develop a love of books and reading in our children!
School
library books are due every Thursday morning.
St.
Patrick's Day:
St.
Patrick's Day is coming up; let me know if you’d like to join us! It's on a Tuesday
and we have PE in the afternoon, so we'll have to be creative with our
timeline...
Here's what I have in mind:
Monday
Afternoon:
Build/set-up leprechaun traps around the
room in groups of 2-3 (see homework option below).
After
School on Monday:
Teachers and parent volunteers wreak a little leprechaun havoc in the
classrooms: create green footprints, put gold coins in the traps, etc.
Tuesday
Morning:
Students check their traps and write about/draw a picture of what happened!
Tuesday,
10:30-11:30:
Class party with some healthy green and/or rainbow snacks and fun activities at
our centers
Please let me know if you can donate
Lucky Charms, gold (chocolate) coins, themed plates and napkins, or a green
fruit/veggie tray or kebabs (grapes, kiwi, cucumber, honeydew, etc.). A rainbow snack made with red, orange,
yellow, green, and blue fruit would be great, too. I saw a cute one on Pinterest. Let me know if you can make one for the class
J. Also, if you would like to help me after
school on Monday, come on in at 3:15.
Thanks!!
Homework
Option:
If you would like to build a
leprechaun trap at home with your child this week, you may do that in lieu of
the homework listed above. Please bring
the trap in on St. Patrick’s Day and we will set it up alongside the traps
we’ll make in the classroom. This assignment is optional! You can find some great ideas here: http://www.pinterest.com/shannasatt82/leprechaun-traps/
